Safar Center Trainees and Faculty Recognized at SCCM 2015

Several Safar Center trainees and faculty were recognized with awards for their research and career achievements at the 44th Society of Critical Care Medicine Congress, which took place this year from January 17-21 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Pediatric Critical Care Fellow, Dr. Megan Browning ,was given a Society of Critical Care Medicine Scientific Award for her abstract “Benefits of Levetiracetam After Controlled Cortical Impact in Rats: Studies from the OBTT Consortium.” The scientific awards recognize the top 5 abstracts selected from over one thousand abstracts submitted to the congress.

Dr. Katherine Anetakis, a  Pediatric Neurology resident at the Childrens’ Hospital of Pittsburgh,  received the Research Citation Award in recognition of her abstract "Combining EEG and Serum Brain Biomarkers to Classify Mortality after Pediatric Cardiac Arrest." Her research identified loss of sleep spindles on EEG as a potential new biomarker of poor outcome in children after cardiac arrest. Dr.  Anetakis is working under the mentorship of Safar Scientist Dr. Ericka Fink. Congratulations to all our award recipients!.
