Safar Center Associate Director Dr. Amy Wagner was recently awarded a number of new grants. She was awarded a National Institute of Health R21 titled “Dopamine System Focused Neurorehabilitation Model for Improving Neurorecovery among Cardiac Arrest Survivors” for research in the novel area of preclinical investigations bridging experimental cardiac arrest and rehabilitation.

She also received a grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) titled “Linking Acute Care and Traumatic Brain Injury Outcomes.” She was also awarded three grants from the Department of Defense (DOD) all related to various aspects of traumatic brain injury, including post traumatic epilepsy, cognitive disfunction, and biomarker based precision medicine phenotyping.

Finally, she was awarded the American Heart Association Transformational Research Award grant also on the topic of dopamine systems and cardiac arrest. Dr. Wagner is a tenured Professor, the Director of Translational Research, and the Director of the Brain Injury Medicine Fellowship in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
